Pretend to be Asleep

No moving while closing their eyes next to their kids

What situation do you guess? Play-fight? Training? No, they aren’t. It’s putting their child to sleep in Japan.

For American people, this routine which is reading books –> Night Night and kiss is major. But that’s totally different from Japan.

For most of Japanese people, including me, this routine which is reading books –> Night Night –> going to their beds with their kids –> pretending to be asleep is major.

Even if their kids who don’t fall asleep start playing, they keep on pretending to be asleep. Even if the kids play with their face, get on their body, talk to them, they keep on it entirely.

While doing so, the kids fall asleep and they can leave from their beds. Finally, the time is for them. (Actually, housework is waiting for them.)

Also, we often get tired after that. It’s funny because we just lying down… That’s funny, isn’t that?

I, have kids who are five-year old and one-year old, pretend to be asleep every night, too. Though, if they say I LOVE YOU, MOM, it makes me to open my eyes and hold them with saying thanks…
